History Of Coffee

How did coffee become so popular? It is believed that the origins of coffee date back to Ethiopia in the 900s. Kaldi, a shepherd, realized his goats were exhibiting peculiar behaviors subsequent to devouring the berries from a particular shrub. He sampled the berries and recognized they gave him an advantage of heightened mental acuity and alertness.

News of the wonderful beverage quickly spread and later it was grown in places like the Middle East, India, and Europe. Coffeehouses began to gain traction in the 1700s throughout Europe, swiftly turning into a location where artists, authors, and intellectuals would congregate.

In America, coffee shops were popular and oftentimes were visited by high-profile individuals like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. It is estimated that globally, more than 400 billion cups of coffee are drunk each year. Coffee drinking has become a popular worldwide pastime.
