The Jimoto Frappuccino, previously offered at Starbucks Japan, has been discontinued as of August 3, 2021.
In our previous article about Starbucks Japan locations, it was evident that the company is committed to providing exceptional coffee and promoting a sense of community. Japan’s 28 regional landmark stores are successful in combining regional history, culture and heritage into the architecture and decoration of their shops. This initiative to bring people together and generate a strong sense of local identity and culture by forming a specialized ‘Third Place’ will be developed even further this summer with the launch of the ‘Jimoto Frappuccino’ campaign.
Since Starbucks was introduced to Japan in 1996, it has expanded and opened 1,637 locations in all of the country’s 47 prefectures. To honor Starbucks Japan’s 25th anniversary in summer 2021, 47 different “Jimoto Frappuccinos” will be released across the country to recognize the celebration. These Frappuccino drinks have been made with flavors, visual aspect, and items that reflect the distinction of the determined area or territory and will only be accessible at stores existing in that prefecture. At Starbucks, every employee is seen as an “associate,” and their perspectives and concepts are tremendously appreciated, as they play an essential role in the community that Starbucks endeavors to construct. Starbucks has established a great set of business principles that formed the ‘Jimoto Frappuccino.’ The concept and taste of each beverage were fashioned with the input of the regional ‘partners.’ This process made sure that the end product is a yummy Frappuccino that speaks of the distinctive culture of each province. Furthermore, it has functioned as an effective way to unite people.
You can find the official page for the ‘Jimoto Frappuccino’ here, and these drinks could be bought from Starbucks outlets in Japan between June 30th and August 3rd of 2021. We will be conducting a thorough investigation of 10 of the most remarkable drinks, although all of them are thrilling.
1. Hokkaido Tokibi Creamy Frappuccino
Hokkaido, the most northerly part of Japan, is well-known for its wealthy environmental attributes and the exceptional harvests it produces. This Frappuccino contains two of Hokkaido’s most celebrated products – milk and corn. A stunning combination of white frappe and golden-yellow cornflakes evokes images of sparkling sunshine on Hokkaido’s snowy scenes.
2. Tokyo Origin Coffee Jelly Caramel Frappuccino
When the personnel at Tokyo Starbucks were considering how to create their new Jimoto Frappuccino, it became apparent that the Tokyo Starbucks Reserve Roastery, opened in 2019, has been very popular with Starbucks customers in Tokyo. This four-story Tokyo shop allows shoppers to closely follow the entire roasting course of action and creates the one of a kind ‘Starbucks Tokyo Roast’, which serves as a bridge between the customers of Tokyo and the ‘partners’ (the store staff). The Frappuccino from Tokyo comes from this famous roast, along with fresh cream.
Adding to the delight, a delicious combination of Starbucks espresso roast coffee jelly and the Frappuccino base is topped off with a creamy caramel sauce.
3. Kyoto Hannari Matcha And Kinako Frappuccino
Kyoto, the erstwhile seat of Japan’s government, is recognized for its rich culture and long-lasting history. The Japanese tea ceremony involving Matcha tea was established in Kyoto. Keeping the cultural tradition of Kyoto alive, this Frappuccino includes Matcha, a highly concentrated green tea powder, and ‘Kinako’, which is a roasted soybean powder that is a traditional element of Japanese food and desserts intended for special celebrations.
The earthy and astringent tastes of Matcha tea are offset perfectly with a rich and creamy white chocolate glaze. Adding Kinako’s sweet, nutty flavoring powder to the base, as well as its topping on whipped cream, make this drink even more delectable. The tastes and flavors of the Frappuccino have been perfected to create the ‘Hannari’ version – a Japanese term expressing sophistication, class, and elegance.
4. Osaka Matcha Kudamon Cream Frappuccino
“In Osaka dialect, ‘Metcha’ is an iconic term that conveys intensity, illustrating the city’s vivacious personality. It is commonly placed ahead of other words to express ‘very’ or ‘really’.” “Matcha Kudamon” can refer to something being very flavorful, and the idea for the Frappuccino was derived from the idea of Mixed Juice. This beverage started in Osaka during the period before the war and can still be found at Kissaten, juice stalls, and coffee shops in the area.
A refreshing blend of fruits including bananas, peaches, apples, and oranges gives the Frappuccino its amazing flavor. Flavors like mango and passion fruit from tropical climates were included to make it a unique and seasonal dessert, and it was finished off with a velvety texture due to the addition of whipped cream. Three sauces – whipped cream, mango and chocolate – are swirled together to form a design reminiscent of ‘Choco Banana,’ a beloved street food often found at summer festivals in Japan. Since ancient times, Osaka has been well-known as an economically active trading center, abounding in trade and business activity. The enthusiasm of Osaka’s vendors is manifested in the concept of “Shimatsu no Seishin,” which when translated to English denotes the attitude of scrimping, which necessitates the economical utilization of all resources, even those of the most insignificant size. The ‘Mixed Juice’ was made up out of the thought of not squandering overly mature fruits that were too mature for sale in the market but were still suitable for eating. This Frappuccino is an ideal representation of that idea.
